This project was a semester long exploration of the relationship between type and image. We were asked to choose one object and one letter, and to create various compositions that combined the two. I chose a feathered quill and the letter "Q" for my exploration project.
PART 1
Small Accordion Process Book
This first deliverable was a collection of our best iterations from exercise 2 in which we created square compositions using our letter and object. There were four categories, and each consecutive category required the addition of a new element into the composition. We turned these final chosen iterations into a small accordion book.
PART 2
Quote Accordion Book
For this exercise, we combined our original selection of a letter and object with a quote. We were asked to visualize the quote by relating various forms of imagery to the quote while integrating the words themselves. The goal was to create a cohesive feel throughout the accordion book with smooth transitions.
"We grow great by dreams. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse through the bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true." – Woodrow Wilson
PART 3
